About NKLD

Namrata Kashyap, alias Kumar, Landscape Architect and Town Planner is an alumnus of the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi.
An ardent traveller and a defence services daughter and wife, Namrata is exposed to various cultures and regions. Learning about traditional practices in design and imbibing them in congruence with technology is her forte. NKLD started as a one-woman enterprise in 2004 and has metamorphosed into a sustainable practice. The main focus is on site-specific design, based on a detailed analysis of ground situations. NKLD uses technology as a tool to achieve the design brief. We borrow richly from ancient traditional design practices that have stood the test of time.
Resilient Landscape planning and design are the main focus points of the company, which offers a way forward for communities. Long-term resilience is about continuously bouncing back and regenerating. It’s about learning how to cope with the ever-changing ‘new normal’. In an era where climate change can cause traditionally built systems to fail, the adaptive, multi-layered system can maintain their vital functions and are often more cost-effective and practical solutions.
